Ihab Darwiche

I graduated with my masters in clinical counseling from Yorkville University, and received designation as a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) with the Canadian Counseling Psychotherapy Association. This means you will be covered through insurance - don't hesitate to ask me how.

My therapeutic approach is mainly based in Existentialism. Existentialism is the use of philosophy to guide the progress of the counselling space. it explores the individuals relationship with self, world, and god, and further encourages the growth of the person through creating conceptual understandings in these realms. All understandings are built and made by the individual themselves, I am simply here to help you find your own understandings and beliefs.  I use CBT, mindfulness techniques, psychoanalytical theories, humanistic theories, and positive psychology as needed. I believe my education helps me better serve those around me, and am constantly seeking new courses and credentials to add to my toolbelt so I can offer you more in our counseling space. If you have a preferred method, or one you're curious about, please don't hesitate to tell me.

Before I entered this field I proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Medical Assistant since 2015. I still serve as a reservist in the CAF and would gladly welcome any and all veterans who need counseling.  While I was serving I worked as a behavioral Interventionist with special needs children, and as a Healthcare Officer in various hospitals across the lower mainland. I currently work as a Substance-Use Clinician under the Fraser Health Authority to solve addictions in the homeless population.

In my personal life, I am an avid reader, writer, weightlifter, and have been training others competitively for over 10 years. I tend to spend my free time exploring the wonderous mountains that BC offers, or exploring new biking trails.
